Dog Vaccination Novi Sad
Dog Vaccination Novi Sad
Vaccination is the foundation of prevention and health for every dog.
Many diseases vaccinated against are fatal, highly contagious, and often incurable – which is why timely and proper protection is essential.
When does vaccination start?
The first vaccine is usually given at 6 weeks of age.. It can be:
- Bivalent (“puppy”) – against parvovirus and distemper
- Pentavalent – broader protection, tailored for young dogs
Vaccination is then repeated two more times at intervals of 3–4 weeks, according to WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) recommendations.
Vaccinations are performed daily at Darvin clinics in Novi Sad and Veternik, following the latest protocols and an individual plan for each dog.
Which diseases does the pentavalent vaccine protect against?
- Parvovirus (also called canine distemper)
- Distemper
- Infectious hepatitis
- Leptospirosis
- Canine influenza
Immunity develops within 7–14 days, so it is important that the puppy avoids contact with other dogs, parks, and gathering places during this period.
What happens after the basic vaccination?
- Annual revaccination follows to maintain immunity.
- Adult dogs can also get sick – protection is not just for puppies.
- By law, the rabies vaccine is mandatory and is given after the basic vaccination, then renewed every year.
Without the rabies vaccine, a dog cannot get a passport, be legally sold or gifted, nor participate in travel or exhibitions.
Important before each vaccination
The dog must be clinically healthy and free from internal and external parasites.
Therefore, the following must be performed before vaccination:
- Antiparasitic treatment against worms, fleas, ticks
- Monthly prevention against heartworm, especially if the dog stays outside or travels
The veterinarian will assess if the pet is ready for vaccination and may postpone immunization until the health condition stabilizes.
Important before each vaccination
If you have multiple dogs or keep a litter, our clinics offer special benefits and vaccination plans that are economically efficient and professionally managed.
