Dental Exam – Health Starts in the Mouth

Dental diseases are among the most common, yet most underestimated health issues in dogs, cats, and small rodents.
Bad breath, pain while chewing, excessive drooling, gum recession, loose teeth, or behavioral changes are often the first signs that it’s time for a dental exam.
At our clinics in Novi Sad and Veternik, we offer comprehensive dental services, including: clinical exams, X-ray imaging, professional ultrasonic teeth cleaning, tooth extraction, and dental corrections for rodents and rabbits.

Comprehensive Dental Exam

Includes a check of all teeth, gums, tongue, and oral cavity under sedation. The veterinarian assesses the presence of tartar, gingivitis, periodontal disease, tooth fractures, or growth irregularities.
For rodents, special attention is given to tooth growth and wear, as their teeth grow throughout life.

Dental X-rays

X-ray imaging is essential when checking the roots of teeth, presence of cysts, abscesses, or damage not visible to the naked eye.
It is performed under mild sedation for full precision, safety, and comfort for the animal.

Ultrasonic Tartar Removal

Accumulated tartar leads to gum inflammation, tooth mobility, and the potential spread of bacteria to internal organs.
Cleaning is done with an ultrasonic device under short anesthesia, and the procedure takes about 30 minutes on average.
After the treatment, the teeth are clean, gums healthy, and breath fresh.

Tooth Extraction

When a tooth is damaged, loose, or infected, removal is necessary to prevent pain and infection.
Extraction is performed under anesthesia with accompanying care and is often combined with cleaning, especially in older pets.

Tooth Extraction

In rabbits, chinchillas, degus, and guinea pigs, improper diet and uneven tooth wear can cause serious health problems.
We perform corrections under anesthesia using specialized tools that allow precise and safe trimming and shaping of teeth.

Advancements in Veterinary Dentistry

Pet dentistry has significantly advanced in recent years — in knowledge, equipment, and approach.
We recognized this development in time and decided that some members of our team would specialize in this field.
At our clinic in Novi Sad, Dr. vet. Stefan Papić is specially trained for dental exams and procedures, while in Veternik, Dr. vet. Danica Kitanović takes on this role with special care.
Both are dedicated not only to diagnosis and treatment, but also to preventing dental problems, especially in patients prone to chronic inflammation or breed- or species-specific issues.
