Protection Against Parasites – Internal and External
Internal Parasites (worms, roundworms)
Dogs and cats are first dewormed at 3 weeks of age, then:
- every 2 weeks for three more times
- After reaching 3 months of age, deworming every 3–4 months is sufficient.
The frequency depends on lifestyle:
- Dogs living outdoors or frequently in contact with other animals – more frequent deworming
- Deworming routine:
- Pets living indoors – every 3 to 4 months
- Cats that go outside – more frequent treatment
-
Cats that do not go outside – twice a year is enough since they can still bring something on their paws
For rabbits and birds, we do not give antiparasitic treatment preventively; instead, we perform stool analysis and treat only if needed.
Ferrets follow the same rules as dogs and cats.
External Parasites (fleas, ticks)
Protection against fleas and ticks is equally important, especially during the warmer seasons.
- For puppies and kittens younger than 2 months and lighter than 1 kg, special mild products adapted to their age and weight are used.
- When the pet reaches 2 months of age and 1 kg body weight, various preparations are available in the form of:
- spot-on ampoules (topical drops)
- tablets
- collars
Which preparation is ideal for your pet at a given time depends on their age, weight, lifestyle, and health status.
It is best to consult a veterinarian before application.
